🎤Spot Family Podcast
Brianna grew up in the small town of Grafton in Northern New South Wales and currently lives in Queanbeyan near Canberra. Growing up in a large family dedicated to supporting their community, caring for and improving the wellbeing of others became a life-long value of hers. Brianna desires to empower her clients and their families in order to help improve their wellbeing for optimal outcomes in life.
Brianna completed a year-and-a-half of a Bachelor’s in Primary Education, where opportunities working with children with special needs and speech impediments ignited an interest in Speech Pathology.
Following the diagnosis of a sibling with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Brianna had the opportunity to attend sessions and be involved in-home therapy. This experience influenced her to transfer courses and pursue Speech Pathology and has given her insight into what it is like to be part of a client’s main support at home.
During her time studying Speech Pathology, Brianna had the opportunity to experience working with children and adults in an array of settings. She also worked with clients from diverse cultural, linguistic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Brianna has special interests in many areas of speech pathology, including:
• Speech sound development
• Early language development
• Orofacial Myology
• Alternative and Augmentative Communication
Prior to joining the Spot team, Brianna worked in a private paediatric clinic in Brisbane where she collaborated with Occupational Therapists and local schools. While she worked predominantly in a face-to-face setting, telehealth services were also offered and became frequently sought after amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
When she’s not working, Brianna enjoys a social and creative lifestyle. She enjoys spending quality time with her friends and family, being outdoors, and creating music or art.
