Born and raised in Brisbane, Lauren grew up in a close-knit family. In her early years, she experienced the impact speech therapy had on a close friend and, consequently, this piqued her interest in supporting individuals with communication needs.
Lauren completed her Bachelor of Speech Pathology at the University of Queensland in 2011. She initially worked in private practice before becoming part of an Inclusive Education team in Primary and Secondary schools. Lauren serviced schools from Sunnybank to Hervey Bay, as well as inland to Gayndah.
Lauren has a particular interest in childrenโs language and how best to support this in therapy and the school environment. She has completed additional learning in Developing Written Text Construction: from 7 to 17; Supporting upper primary children and adolescents with language and literacy difficulties; Cued Articulation; and Hanenโs Learning Language and Loving it.
After personal experience with her two boys, she has also developed a keen interest in orofacial myofunctional disorders and their impact.
Organising, sewing, and baking are some of Lauren’s particular interests, and it would be rare to find her without a to-do list in hand. In her spare time, youโll find Lauren on Mum duty with her two busy boys, or catching up with family and friends at the park.
